Ossett Greenway – 04 Apr 26

There was much anticipation for this brand new addition to our ride repertoire.

Stevie B and Bryan setting out on their blue tandem, rucksack on, panniers attatchesed and raincoats, just incase!

Seven tandems rolled out from TT HQ on the traditional start to our Greenway rides. At Ravensthorpe we took a right turn and headed across new ground, through Thornhill Lees and onto the Greenway towards Ossett.

Andy, Tariq, Mark and Katie side by side riding  on their tandems riding across a bridge with a stone wall

There was some impressive cycling by riderss old and new, all made it safely to Gracie’s cafe where carrot cake and butties were delivered and consumed in short order amidst familiar banter and gales of laughter.

Trekkers sat outside Gracies cafe

The return was a joy, so much swifter that on the outward leg, being largely downhill.
This ride had plenty of variety to offer: on and off road, narrow tree lined tracks with birds singing, echoing tunnels (pilots not being able to see much was quite a leveller!), twisting ascents, thrilling descents, diversions and a closed road.

A steep sided section of the Greenway, going into a deep dark tunnel with foliage draped down over the edge of the bridge above. (very ominous!)

All had great fun, there was wonderful camaraderie and we had not a single mechanical issue.
This promises to become a much-loved calendar fixture.

  1. Yeah great new ride which skirted some very familiar places (like Dewsbury) and took me to Osett (where I’d never been before !) along great traffic free paths.
    Thanks
