Everything came up roses for Saturday’s ride along Spen Valley Greenway.

After last weeks ride was cancelled due to really heavy rain forecast and the outlook was looking a bit mixed for this Saturday, but luckily it turned out to be a warm pleasant morning and the threatened rain never materialised.

The other potential fly in the ointment was a reported closure of the greenway at some point, which might mean we could not reach our favourite cafe stop and Hayley.

Undaunted 7 tandems and Paul on a solo set out!

Unfortunately Kate and Richard did not get far before some mechanical issues but they went back to change bikes and soon caught us up.

We were delighted to get to Sunflower pot cafe without any problems and soon had the whole place to ourselves, a complete tandem trekkers takeover.

Andy (usually a Pilot) even made a surprise appearance at the cafe as he was coming to help give the tandems a service ready for our residential next weekend.

After our our bacon and egg butties we continued along the greenway to Low Moor. There were a couple of unsurfaced gravelly sections due to the ongoing work on the greenway  but nothing we could not negotiate, especially after our mountain bike training on the dalby forest ride.We returned to storage where we sorted out which bikes we were taking to Shropshire next week and checked them over, even the straps got a wash!

All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable ride, unfortunately not all member signed up for todays ride could make it, as they were poorly, we wish them all the best for a speedy recovery!
