Trans Pennine Trail – 09 May 26

The transpennine trail is fast becoming a favourite ride. 6 tandems were out yesterday and Jean was also on the trail walking guide dog Taya as well as her gorgeous dog Harper.

A fork in the path with several tandems taking the tight left turn going behind a big metal sign stating te Trans Pennine Trail
A sign we’re on the right path

It’s a very pleasant smooth tree lined trail with lots of bird song. It has a bit of an incline sometimes to test the legs but nothing too tiring.

A very long and green leafy tree tunnel with Tandem Trekkers riding on the path in the middle off into the distance
A beautiful place for birds and bikes alike

The rain that was threatened on the forecast never appeared and it was a cool but very pleasant morning ride along the trail in both directions from Wigfield Farm. We cycled as far as we could in the direction of Silkstone tunnel before the track turned very steep and bumpy and then we turned back and pedalled to Stairfoot station when our rumbling tummies indicated we should head back towards the cafe.

Time ad Bryan on their tandem, stationery, with the pilot pointing ad the stoker giving a thumbs up.
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Or, just the direction to the café?

We had a friendly welcome and good food and chat at the cafe before heading home.

A trio of Tandem Trekkers (well 6 trekers but we all know they come in pairs!)

  1. Yes, this turned out to be a dry morning. I enjoyed walking Taya and my own dog (Harper) round the flowery lanes.

    1. You were lucky with the weather, it rained in Mirfield!
We ought to try to get to Old Moor bird reserve, I’m sure the trail goes that way.
