It seems like no time at all since we were cleaning down our fleet of tandems and giving all the moving parts a good dose of lubrication before packing them away for their winter hibernation.
It was good to see them arriving gleaming resplendently on their specially adapted trailers at the BKCAT cycle track in Wakefield.
A fantastic turnout of TT members welcomed 3 new pilots, and 4 new stokers. Our induction team worked overtime to instruct them all in the essentials of Tandem riding before letting them loose around the 1.1 km track.
Although the sun didn’t shine and it was a bit on the cool side, the atmosphere around the track crackled as the usual banter and encouragement was very much in evidence. Thoroughly good workout for all involved, before we adjourned to the nearby Spring Community Café to replenish some of the calories expended (I can recommend the carrot cake) and continue catching up with old friends and welcoming new ones. Lots of news exchanged and plenty of laughs as always.
A really good start to our new season.
A very big thank you to everybody involved in making this such an enjoyable inaugural event both on and off the track.
