Boroughbridge – 30 May 26

Another perfect day for cycling brought us back to Boroughbridge. A 25-mile ride through some beautiful North Yorkshire villages with only 450ft of elevation.

We enjoyed quiet roads for the majority of the ride, bordered by grass verges, adorned with bright yellow daisies and blood red poppies.

Two tandems cycle on a quiet dusty road in bright sunshine. The foreground shows the brigh red poppies that are growing in the tall grass at the side of the road.

We sailed around the route in just two hours, passing over the wooden boarded Toll bridge at Aldwark where we saw a large group of kayakers enjoying the river Ure.

We passed through numerous delightful little villages with some interesting names such as Great Ouseburn, Ardwark, Flawith, Raskelf and Bafferton Helperby to name a few.

Unusually we had more pilots than stokers this weekend, so Louise tried out the back seat for a change, a very different experience from piloting.
We retuned to Boroughbridge for some well-earned lunch where we sat in the garden of the Gilchrist bakery, a little tucked away haven.
