The transpennine trail is fast becoming a favourite ride. 6 tandems were out yesterday and Jean was also on the trail walking guide dog Taya as well as her gorgeous dog Harper.

It’s a very pleasant smooth tree lined trail with lots of bird song. It has a bit of an incline sometimes to test the legs but nothing too tiring.

The rain that was threatened on the forecast never appeared and it was a cool but very pleasant morning ride along the trail in both directions from Wigfield Farm. We cycled as far as we could in the direction of Silkstone tunnel before the track turned very steep and bumpy and then we turned back and pedalled to Stairfoot station when our rumbling tummies indicated we should head back towards the cafe.

We had a friendly welcome and good food and chat at the cafe before heading home.

Yes, this turned out to be a dry morning. I enjoyed walking Taya and my own dog (Harper) round the flowery lanes.
You were lucky with the weather, it rained in Mirfield!
We ought to try to get to Old Moor bird reserve, I’m sure the trail goes that way.
