This would ordinarily be a track session to help induction new members and build existing members confidence on the tandem, but it was not required this month, so we made a new plan!
Today was an extra helping of the SVGW, but as the heavens opened and we assembled at our headquarters in Mirfield, thoughts were of postponing, or at least cutting the ride short

The sky had brightened a little by departure time and as we were ready with 5 tandem crews and a solo rider, we decided to press on.
We needn’t have worried, the rain was light and once on the Greenway we had all warmed up!

We were particularly pleased to find that the resurfacing from Liversedge to Cleckheaton had been completed and today was the grand opening by The Walk, Wheel, Cycle Trust (formerly Sustrans).

Our crews even had their photos taken for the publicity shots.
Low Moor was under another rain cloud but our spirits weren’t dampened, even if our feet were!
At Low Moor, a fallen tree arched across our path presenting an unexpected hazard. It was helpfully marked by our ride leader and duly reported to WWRT.

I am sure that Hayley was as pleased to see us at the Sun Flower Pot café, as much as we were to be there in relative warmth and dryness.
We were joined by fellow Trekker, Barney, carrying out important cycle helmet research, at the café.
The constant chatter and laughter was a delight to hear.
The sun finally emerged to welcome us home to our HQ, glad that we all made the effort despite the gloomy forecast.

The weather didn’t dampen enthusiasm, what a great what a great bunch of people tandem. Track are being a member since day one and absolutely love love the banter and the cycling.
Yeah for Tandem Trekkers braving the November Yorkshire weather on the Spen Valley Green Way with a good turnout. 🚲🙂 Looks like you had a good time.
Looking forward to joining you all in a few weeks.
The unexpected rainy weather definitely did not dump in our spirits. We had a lovely ride on the Greenway. And as always, a great coffee stop at Hayley‘s café The Sunflower Pot Café. Where we are always made welcome.
🚲🚲🙂🙂🚲🚲
Yes it was a very wet start to the ride, but we area tough trekkers and the thought of bacon sandwiches at the Sun flower pot cafe spurs us on . Thank you Stevie for leading the ride and thanks to everyone for the banter that keeps us going.
